| The Hermitage - Alfred's cabin restoration |
| Here are some photos of the log patching in progress. This particular cabin was built with eastern red cedar logs. Over the years weather and insects have damaged some areas of the logs. The deterioration is carefully cut out and replaced with vintage cedar log patches thus returning it to a sound state while retaining as much of the original log as possible. |
| Below are some progress photos of the replacement of the deteriorated chinking blocks. These blocks are wedged tightly with historic "cut" nails and then new masonry daubing will be applied over them on the interior and exterior to keep the insects, animals and elements outs, and to keep the heat inside the cabin during the winter months. |
