Two Rivers Mansion ~ South Elevation Renovations ~ progress page
|
These photos (above) show column capitals which have been restored and is now ready for the finish phase.
|
This photo (left) shows a
nearly completed column
repair. Only the damaged
wood was removed and
replaced.
This is a photo (right) of the
column trim being installed by a
GGC employee. All new wood
has been primed on all sides,
prior to installation. This
prevents the new wood from
absorbing moisture before the
finish coats are installed.
In this photo (above), we see the newly fabricated porch handrail elements being primed, prior to installation.

With the completion of the repair and
replacement of the porch columns, the
installation of the newly fabricated
handrails and balusters is underway.
The series of photos (left and below)
show the progress.
The photo (right) shows the fabrication of an
arched window sash that was too deteriorated for
restoration. The new sash is being fabricated
from vintage poplar wood that was salvaged from
another old structure. This process will ensure
the replacement sash will match the original sash
in every detail.
